Families living in rural communities may face barriers that can negatively impact their access to health care, such as higher poverty rates, unemployment, and more, making outreach and enrollment support to connect families to coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) extremely important.
In this webinar, held in November 2023, speakers from CMS and the National Rural Health Association discussed important strategies, resources, and best practices for outreach to rural communities and American Indian and Alaska Native populations, many of whom reside in rural areas. Speakers also discussed the importance of partnerships and provided actionable tools, including an overview of CMS’ latest Medicaid and CHIP Continuous Enrollment Unwinding Communications Toolkit. The discussion also featured materials from the Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign, available on InsureKidsNow.gov.
