As kids head back to school, health coverage is often top of mind for parents and caregivers as many kids need physicals and updated immunizations before returning to the classroom. During the Back-to-School season each year, the Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign focuses on raising awareness about the comprehensive health services covered by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), like routine doctor visits, vaccinations, eye exams, mental health services, and more.
This July 2024 webinar featured speakers from CMS’ Centers for Medicaid and CHIP Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Adolescent and School Health, and the Greater Flint Health Coalition. They discussed the importance of immunizations during the school year, strategies to promote health in schools, and shared best practices for working with schools and families to get kids connected to coverage.
